NEW YORK (Reuters Life!) – Pregnant women need no longer give up their morning cup of coffee.

A research review by The American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists had found that moderate caffeine consumption probably won't increase the risk of a miscarriage or premature birth.

Until recently, studies have had conflicting findings about the effect of moderate caffeine consumption on pregnancy complications but a College committee has reviewed the evidence.

"I think it's time to comfortably say that it's OK to have a cup of coffee during pregnancy," Dr. William Barth, the chair of the College committee, told Reuters Health.

The College's Committee on Obstetric Practice said that 200 milligrams of caffeine a day -- about the amount in a 12-ounce cup of coffee -- doesn't significantly contribute to miscarriages or premature births.

That definition of "moderate caffeine consumption" would also include drinking about four 8-ounce cups of tea or more than five 12-ounce cans of soda a day, or eating six or seven dark chocolate bars.

The committee said the evidence was not clear on whether consuming more than 200 mg of caffeine a day might increase pregnancy risks.

The group considered two recent studies, each of which followed more than 1,000 pregnant women.

One study, led by Dr. David Savitz of The Mount Sinai Medical Center in New York, found no increased rate of miscarriage for women who consumed low, moderate, or high levels of caffeine at different points in their pregnancy. In the other, Dr. De-Kun Li and his colleagues at Kaiser Permanente's Division of Research in Oakland found a higher risk of miscarriage in women who consumed more than 200 mg of caffeine per day, but no extra risk at lower levels.

The committee also pointed to two other studies that found that a mother's moderate caffeine intake did not make it any more likely she would deliver a baby prematurely.

Research has shown that caffeine is able to cross the placenta, which led to worries that it could cause miscarriage or premature birth.

In the United States, about 16 percent of all pregnancies end in miscarriage and about 12 percent of babies are born prematurely.

Barth said previous studies were mixed and unclear about the link between caffeine and pregnancy risks. It was the new findings from large groups of women that allowed the committee to feel confident that moderate caffeine intake was safe.

NEW YORK – A respected brain-imaging center run by Columbia University has halted some research after federal officials repeatedly complained that patients were getting drugs that failed purity tests.

The Food and Drug Administration found in a series of inspections that the center had failed to correct manufacturing problems in a lab that makes experimental drugs injected into psychiatric patients to help capture images of brain activity.

In one warning letter, an FDA office in New York described problems dating back to at least 2004. It cited a litany of violations, including a failure to reject batches of medication that didn't pass required tests. The drugs were for patients undergoing a type of brain scan called positron emission tomography, or PET.

"We are concerned about the quality control systems and procedural problems that have allowed these significant deficiencies to occur," the FDA told the center in the letter, written in December 2008.

In a statement sent Saturday to The Associated Press, Columbia University Medical Center said it was restructuring the laboratory that produces the drugs for the Kreitchman PET Center.

It said an internal investigation, performed at the FDA's request, had found "no evidence of patient harm," but that all activities relying on the manufactured compounds had been suspended while reforms were undertaken.

Tens of thousands of women with breast enlargements have been warned to have check-ups over fears they were given dangerous implants.

Up to 50,000 British women - including some breast cancer survivors - have implants filled with a silicone gel that may have been made for mattresses and so has not undergone vital safety tests.

In addition, there are concerns that a protective coating, designed to stop the implant from splitting and prevent any gel that leaks from spreading through the body, is missing.

The Poly Implant Prothese - or PIP - implants were among the cheapest on the market, and so were widely used in commercial clinics here and abroad.

Last night, the British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons (BAAPS) urged women who have had implants to contact their surgeon to find out what brand was used.

Women with PIP implants should have an ultrasound test within the next six months to check for flaws and cracks. If there are signs of damage, implants on both sides should be removed.

And the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency, which is responsible for the safety of drugs and medical devices, has told surgeons to stop using the implants.

To add to the worry for women, PIP, once the world's third-largest manufacturer of implants, has gone into liquidation - meaning those affected could be footing large parts of the bill themselves.

The alarm was raised in France after surgeons noticed that the PIP implants were rupturing much more quickly than other brands.

An inquiry ordered by health watchdogs found 'serious irregularities' in the implants, minutes of a meeting held by the French Society of Reconstructive and Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons state.

The meeting also heard that when asked for studies on the safety of the gel, its manufacturer said he did not have any, because he believed it was being used to make mattresses.

The minutes contain the caveat that his claims have still to be verified.

Nigel Mercer, a Bristol plastic surgeon and president of BAAPS, said: 'This is certainly an unusual situation but so far there is no serious cause for alarm.

'While further tests are conducted into the substance, we recommend that women who have undergone breast augmentation contact their surgeons to find out what kind of implant was used.

'If it's PIP, they should have an ultrasound in the next six months, to establish whether there is any rupture.

'Removal is recommended in these cases but if there is one ruptured implant, the other one should be taken out as well, as a preventative measure.'

Mr Mercer added that the French investigation firmly lays the blame at the door of the manufacturer and not the surgeons.

He said: 'This situation is clearly not the fault of the surgeons, who acted in good faith - it would be similar to blaming a dealership for a faulty car.'

Women may be able to be referred for ultrasound through their GP. Otherwise, they will have to pay for it privately.

The NHS does remove damaged implants but won't pay for new ones.

In France, more than 500 women have filed complaints with the prosecutor of Marseilles in which they demand free replacements of their implants and compensation for harm suffered.

One, Annick Dejoie, said: 'It gave me swollen glands and also severe fatigue that nearly caused a very serious car accident.'

Salaat is healthy..
ALLah , the Creator, knows exactly what is needed by His creatures, especially humans. All His commandments are not only worth piety, but also has huge benefits for the human body itself. For example, fasting, God commands in all three pillars of this highly acclaimed by the medical benefits and scientists western world. They also necessarily come fast to their health and their patients.

So it is with prayer. Worship prayer is the most appropriate service for the metabolism of the human body and texture. Movements in prayer also has the benefit of each.
For example:
Takbiratul ihram

Standing erect, raise both hands parallel to the ear, then fold it in front of the abdomen or lower chest. This movement is beneficial to smooth the flow of blood, lymph nodes (lymph), and arm muscle strength. The position of the heart below the brain allows blood to flow smoothly throughout the body. We raised both hands, stretching the shoulder muscles so that the flow of oxygen-rich blood become fluent. Then second hand in front of the abdomen or lower chest. This attitude prevents interference from various joints, particularly in the upper body.

Ruku '

Ruku 'is marked perfectly straight spine so that when placed on the back of a glass of water is not going to spill. Head position with the spine straight. This movement is beneficial to maintain the perfection of the position and function of the spine (vertebrae corpus) as a support body and the central nervous system. Heart position parallel with the brain, the maximal blood flow in the central part of the body. Hands resting on knees serves to relax the muscles of the shoulder to bottom. In addition, the bow is a training tool for bladder thus preventing prostate disorders.

I'tidal

Wake up from bowing, the body back up after raising his hands as high as the ears. I'tidal is a variation of the posture after bowing and before prostration. This movement is useful as an exercise is good for the digestive organs. At I'tidal done, digestive organs in the abdominal massage and relaxation experience alternately. Sure to give effect digestion.

Prostration

putting both hands, knees, toes, and forehead on the floor. Prostration useful to pump lymph into the neck and armpits. Posis heart above the oxygen-rich regions of the brain can cause the maximum flow to the brain. This flow effect on a person thought power. Therefore, you should do prostrations with tuma'ninah, not in a hurry so the blood is adequate capacity in the brain. This position prevent someone from hemorrhoids disorders. Especially for women, both bowing and prostration has tremendous benefits for health and fertility of female organs.

Sitting between prostrations

Sitting after the prostrations consist of two types namely iftirosy (tahiyat initial) and tawarru '(tahiyat end). The difference is in the position of your feet. when iftirosy, the body resting on his thighs that are connected with nerve nerve Ischiadius. This position is able to avoid the pain in the groin, which often causes the sufferer unable to walk. Sitting tawarru 'very good for the man because the heel to curtail the bladder (urethra), male sex glands (prostate) and vas deferens tract. If done correctly, this position can prevent impotence. Variations on the foot position and tawarru iftirosy 'cause the whole leg muscle also re-stretch and then relax. Harmonic motion and pressure to maintain this flexibility and power organs of our movement.

Greeting

Head to the right turning movement and since e left the maximum. Salam useful to useful to relax the muscles around her neck and head, improving blood flow in the head so as to prevent tension headaches as well as maintain the skin.

one of the research on prostrate
Every inch of the human brain needs enough blood to function normally. Tidk blood will enter the nerve in the brain, but when someone fell down in prayer. Fibril, they require a certain blood for a few moments alone. This means that blood will enter the vein the following prayer time, as has been required in Islam.

Research on the already received recognition from Harvard University, United States. Even an American doctor unfamiliar declare themselves converted to Islam after diamdiam doing research on the movement of prostrate specific development. In addition, movements in a quick prayer or yoga-like stretching (stretching). In essence, allows you to flex the body and blood circulation. Advantages prayer than any other movement is in our prayers much more moving limbs, including toes and hands.

How a New Process Lets You Control Your Appetite Without Cravings

If you're like most Americans you've probably tried a few approaches to weight loss - and without much lasting success.

The problem, according to experts is the combination of our sedentary lifestyle and our strong tendency to overeat.

Most of us spend 8 to 9 hours a day, 5 days a week sitting at our desks, plus more time sitting on our daily commute.  And exercise is apparently of little help when it comes to dropping pounds.  Even though Americans spend $19 billion dollars a year on gym memberships, and most of us say we exercise regularly, two-thirds of the population is still overweight or obese by government standards. Something just doesn't add up.

Overeating seems to be the main problem. To lose weight, you have to burn more calories than you consume and unless you're following a strict diet, it's very difficult to "work off" the excess amount of calories that most of us take in. For instance, for a 140 lb. woman to burn off the calories in a bagel with cream cheese, she would have to jog for an hour. And that's just breakfast.

That hasn't left people with too many effective options. You can rely on willpower and ration your food intake, turn to fat blockers that have embarrassing side effects, or worse, use dubious stimulants that could put your health at risk for the sake of losing weight.

So, is there a solution to this dilemma?

Apparently a new California Company called Sensa may just have one. They have just launched a remarkable new product that has been shown to control the appetite and convince the brain to stop overeating.

Sensa was developed by Dr. Alan Hirsch, an intrepid doctor and neuro-scientist, whose lifelong specialty has been to study how our senses, and in particular, smell and taste affect the brain's functioning. Dr. Hirsch's breakthrough occurred when he discovered that many of his patients who had lost their sense of smell and taste due to illness or accident experienced rapid weight gain.  He recognized that certain smells and tastes seemed to be acting on the brain to control the appetite.

Dr Hirsch studied hundreds of compounds and after years of research developed a set of virtually odorless and tasteless food sprinkles that showed a strong impact on the body's appetite-control center, which he called "Tastants".  Then, in one of the largest studies of a non-prescription weight-loss system, these Tastants were tested for effectiveness as a means of weight loss.

The results were significant. Over a 6 month period, 1,436 women and men sprinkled flavorless "Tastant" crystals on everything they ate, and lost an average of 30.5 pounds - nearly 15% of their total body weight.

Participants achieved these results without having to follow any special exercise regime or diet.

Best of all, because it is tasteless and odorless and contains no stimulants and does not directly interact with the digestive system, there are no unpleasant side-effects.  According to Dr Hirsch, "With Sensa, you can eat all the foods that satisfy your senses and you don't have to deal with any intense food cravings or feelings of starvation. Sensa merely helps you eat less of the foods you love and gain greater satisfaction from smaller portions."
